The SYNTHAFLOW dry air filter used in this cold air intake system was designed to maximize engine protection by capturing harmful contaminants. Over time, this system will end up paying for itself thanks to its washable and reusable air filter. High-density polyethylene is a thermoset resin that is used for critical containment of chemicals due to its high resistance to corrosion. Cross-linking this resin ties the polymers together offering even more durability. High-density cross-linked polyethylene is used predominantly in radiant cooling and heating systems, so you know your AIRAID Performance Air Intake System will maintain high performance. It'll also keep the air that's sucked into your engine nice and cool.

Oiled Vs. Dry Air Filter

An oiled up air filter typically allows for stronger airflow to your vehicle's engine, but there are a few minor drawbacks that make you lean more towards a dry air filter. The first being that oiled air filters require more maintenance than dry air filters. Because they rely on a thin layer of oil that's usually lathered on out of the box, over time build up of air debris could potentially hinder your vehicle's performance and efficiency. Although there is more maintenance with oiled air filters, in theory they should offer just a little bit more to your vehicle in terms of performance. Dry air filters, on the other hand, rely on tighter filtration patterns that allow less air in than oiled filters. Dry filters are more common in dry, arid regions that may experience more air debris like dust, sand, or dried dirt. Both types of filters can be washed and reused, but oiled filters, wet by design, will outlast dry filters. The oiled filters will also need to be re-oiled by you. So if you don't mind sacrificing a smidge of power and efficiency to avoid spending extra time under your hood the dry air filter is the right choice for you. Especially if you live in a dry region where sand, dust, and dirt are constantly being sucked in through your intake.
